I work in the marketing department, but a lot of the stuff I do has a creative focus. The bulk of my work is designing direct mail and e-mail pieces for clients. A couple of my postcard designs are already in the process of being sent out to their client database. I also take care of smaller administrative/marketing duties such as getting price quotes from printers or companies we would like to order promotional materials from. This is a small company, and everyone here has been nice and approachable. I feel like I am a full-time employee of the company and not just a temporary intern. They give you enough work so you are always working at a steady pace.

Show you have an interest in marketing, obviously. You are also working for a smaller company, so you will have many different responsibilities.
As I said, everyone was friendly and approachable. The CEO made sure he interacted with everyone on a daily basis and always said "hi." It is a small and new company, so everyone knows each other. There were a lot of new hires that started working there not long before me. It is a friendly and easygoing environment.
They asked me the typical questions: Why do I want this internship? Why is it a good fit for me? What are some skills that I have that can help me with this internship? Because there was a creative component to the internship, they made certain candidates design a postcard for one of their services.
Not officially, but they let me know that they wanted me to stay involved with the company and want me to do freelance work while I am in school. Although I wasn't really offered a job, the future with this company looks pretty good.
