Developer

GiftGenius.com, the ultimate online gift guide, is seeking a passionate developer intern to work with our experienced New York City-based creative team. The chosen candidate will work directly with our Art director and will assist in day-to-day website development and maintenance.  We?re looking for someone who will be able to come into the New York location at least two days per week. The position starts immediately and offers a weekly stipend and the possibility of class credit.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a start-up from the ground up and offers a lot of room to grow. 

Responsibilites include:

• New design implementations
• Add features & make modifications to the Content Management System
• Development and expansion of database-driven web applications.
• Design, development and monitoring of email delivery applications and reporting tools.
• Maintenance and support of existing systems
• Brainstorming new ideas, bug fixes.

Internship Requirements

Must demonstrated experience with:  

* Ruby on Rail

* Rubygems

* Mongrel

* Mysql * The mysql gem * Subversion * Ajax * Javascript   * HTML, CSS 

? Must have experience (formal or self-taught) in programming theory and/or application/website architecture and design.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related field OR equivalent experience (minimum 2+ years? experience as a developer).

* Solid background in data structures.
*  Demonstrated ability to learn new products and technologies.

*  Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
