I was hired as an "intern" to cold-call non-profit agencies to invite them to register for our free seminars that introduced our auctioning services. So, basically, I was in a small office on the phone & computer the whole time. It was awkward calling people who had never heard of cMarket, and getting a lot of "no, thank you"s but the people who I called were generally friendly.
The marketing dept at cMarket underwent a lot of changes when I were there, but the women who I worked with were extremely friendly and made me feel like an important part of the team (I was because I was the only one doing this kind of outreach). However, I was secluded and never met or worked with anyone else.
The pay was good, and it was a good experience to learn a little more about how a small firm like this functions, I knew what my tasks were going to be going into the job, so there were no surprises, but it definitely wasn't exciting or fun.

I don't know that they'll be hiring in the future, I was the first marketing intern there, and I don't know how successful the plan was. Their calling lists were outdated.
However, just go in with an ambitious and enthusiastic attitude, be genuine. No tricks here, they are real people who want you to succeed. They want your help & they want to help you.
